A new study inBMJ suggests that a new class of drugs called “antihistamines” may offer similar benefits to Viagra for women.
The study, published in, is a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of 50 women who had suffered a stroke and had suffered a heart attack and an arrhythmia in the past year.
Researchers from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and the University of Florida at Gainesville are trying to develop new drugs to treat these conditions. They are testing a drug called alprazolam that is the brand name for the anti-inflammatory drug azithromycin.
Alprazolam was approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration in 2000 for the treatment of angina pectoris and vasospastic vasculopathy, or a type of heart attack.
The drug is called a “prodrug” and it was initially developed by Pfizer, Inc. in 1996 to treat hypertension.
The drug works by increasing blood flow to the heart and is thought to work by blocking enzymes involved in the production of certain chemicals that cause inflammation and pain.
The drug is currently being studied as a treatment for hypertension.
Alprazolam and another drug called hydroxyzine (Zyrexin), used to treat diabetes, are thought to help patients with diabetes reduce blood pressure.
The researchers from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, recruited 50 women who had been diagnosed with hypertension between January 2007 and December 2009. The women received a written questionnaire on their blood pressure before and after taking alprazolam, and a placebo drug, either in a glass of water or with food.
They then were randomly assigned to take either alprazolam or a placebo for 2 weeks. After taking the drug, the participants also took a pill of another drug, such as hydroxyzine, a prodrug of the drug.
The women then took the alprazolam pill, and after a second pill, they were given hydroxyzine. The researchers determined that the women had suffered a heart attack and a stroke.
The study concluded that alprazolam “promotes the release of prostaglandins in the corpus cavernosum of the penis. These prostaglandins play a role in blood flow, erection, and erection, and they also play a role in pain, inflammation and swelling of the tissue.”
In a separate study, researchers at the University of Florida, Gainesville, compared alprazolam and a placebo. They found that the drug helped improve the blood flow to the penile region.
“Alprazolam is a powerful anti-inflammatory drug that is often prescribed to people with heart disease and hypertension,” said lead study author Dr. Michael Kocsis, director of the Division of Biomedical Research and Education, the Center for Evidence-Based Medicine at the University of Iowa.
He said the study’s findings “have important implications for patients who take these drugs to help manage their hypertension and hypertension.”
He also noted that the researchers had already conducted two trials on a placebo, but they found no statistically significant difference.
“We hope this study will help improve the use of this medication in patients with heart disease and hypertension,” said Kocsis. “The data from these two trials is consistent with our hypothesis, which is that a combination of anti-inflammatory drugs, such as alprazolam and hydroxyzine, may be helpful in treating the underlying condition of hypertension and hypertension.”
The researchers said that the new drugs were safe, effective and well tolerated in patients with hypertension.
“The researchers had already seen that alprazolam is a useful drug in the treatment of hypertension,” said Kocsis.
He added that the new drugs “are important because they are very effective in reducing blood pressure, but they do not address the underlying cause of hypertension.”
Kocsis said that the new study was “the first to show that alprazolam has an effect in treating hypertension.”
The researchers said that the new drugs will be evaluated in two different types of experiments in patients with hypertension. In one, they will compare the effect of alprazolam with hydroxyzine in the treatment of hypertension.
A recent study by the University of Florida researchers found that men who took more than one dose of sildenafil (Viagra) during sex were more likely to develop erectile dysfunction.
The study, called a “pharmacodynamic model-study,” was published in the January 23, 2022, edition of the Journal of Sexual Medicine. The study was published in the journal The Journal of Sexual Medicine. In the study, a study of 9,000 men who took more than one dose of sildenafil (Viagra) over a period of three months was carried out.
The researchers were using the pharmacodynamic model of sildenafil to determine the effect of treatment with sildenafil on erectile dysfunction. They had the following three questions:
1. What was the effect of treatment with sildenafil on erectile dysfunction?2. How long did sildenafil treatment last, and were there any adverse events?
To answer these questions, the researchers followed the study's design, which included a group of 9,000 men who were randomly assigned to take one of the sildenafil-treated or the placebo group. They did not use any other treatment during their study.
The researchers looked at the data using the questionnaire and then used the model-study to determine if sildenafil reduced erectile dysfunction in men with erectile dysfunction.
They found that sildenafil significantly reduced the percentage of men who had an erection and an erection after the treatment. The percentage of men who had an erection increased with sildenafil use and decreased with sildenafil use alone. However, sildenafil alone was not significantly different between the groups. Sildenafil alone was significantly more effective in reducing erectile dysfunction than sildenafil treatment.
When asked about the effect of treatment with sildenafil on erectile dysfunction, the researchers found that the effect was greater for men taking one dose of sildenafil (Viagra) than for men taking a placebo. The researchers also found that a higher dose of sildenafil was more effective in reducing the frequency of men who experienced erectile dysfunction.
“We conclude that the pharmacodynamic model-study of sildenafil is a pharmacokinetic model-study. We wanted to understand whether a small dose of sildenafil is more effective at reducing erectile dysfunction than a larger dose of sildenafil.”

Sildenafil citrate, commonly known by the brand name, is a prescription-only medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. It works by improving blood flow to the penis, helping to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual activity.
Sildenafil is available in 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg strengths.
Sildenafil has been shown to be effective in up to 80% of men with ED, with effects typically noticeable within 30 to 60 minutes, and lasting for up to 4–5 hours.
Common side effects include:
Less common but serious effects include visual disturbances, hearing changes, or prolonged erections. Seek medical attention if severe or persistent side effects occur.
Sildenafil should not be used by those:
Inform your doctor of all medications and supplements before use. Interactions may occur with:
Avoid excessive alcohol while taking sildenafil, as it can lower blood pressure and increase side effect risk. Use with caution if you have any heart-related conditions.
